On this phone — the app tumbles five dice on screen; tap a die to hold it and roll up to three times. Real dice at the table — you throw your own dice and tell the phone the five faces you ended with: tap them in any order, tap a die to fix it, then tap the box you want. Choose either at setup or with the dice button in the top bar; switching never changes anyone’s scores. Both score by exactly the same rules.
The game. 13 rounds; everyone takes one turn each round, in seating order. A turn is up to three rolls. After the first and second roll you may hold any dice — held dice keep their value, tap one again to release it. After one, two or three rolls you must score in exactly one open box, and that score is recorded. To correct a mistake, use Undo or open Game in the top bar.
Game offers undo of recorded turns (including the final turn), restart of the current turn, reset to round 1 with the same players, and player setup. Undo history survives a reload. Restart and reset ask first; earlier completed games in tonight's tally stay intact.
Ones to Sixes: add up the dice showing that number. Reach 63 in the six upper boxes for a 35-point bonus.
Once your Yahtzee box holds 50, every further Yahtzee wins a 100-point bonus (a box holding 0 earns none). The Joker then says where it goes: 1) your upper box for that number if it is still open — mandatory, scored as the sum of the dice; 2) otherwise any open lower box, with full house 25, small straight 30, large straight 40 and the rest the sum of the dice; 3) if that upper box and every lower box are filled, you write 0 in an open upper box of your choice.
Grand total = upper section + 35 bonus + lower section + Yahtzee bonuses. Highest total wins; a tie means everyone tied wins. Play again keeps the same friends, rotates who starts and keeps counting for the evening.
